spam link up-tick
A quick note to all with blogs. Over the last three days, I've seen a huge
uptick in spam gardening comments on my blog. There must have been a
seminar or something somewhere that promoted the use of this technique. I'm
getting fairly realistic comments from fairly realistic (but incomplete
blogs or websites) about gardening. Very well done but still comment-spam.
You get names such as Juan-Landscaping or some such thing. The only way
to tell is to investigate the referring website.
Akismet does not pick these up - they are totally human powered.
I did visit one of the comment-sites where the person was talking about how
he had created over 20,000 back links to his site using this technique and
doing 100 a day. It only took him an "hour a day" over time to make a
comment that looked relevant. He was awarded a spam click for his efforts.
:-)
Of course it's up to you how you handle your comments sections but I'm
seeing these guys get through on a lot of garden blogs.
These might be because of inclusion in Alltop or ?? but it's a pain in the
anatomy at the moment.
Just a heads-up on it.
Doug
