Re: Speaker wardrobe


I agree with Nancy. Chinos and a nice shirt are fine for demonstrations. It doesn't work as well for (most) guys, but I like to wear something with flowers on it when I give talks.I have several skirts, shirts, and jackets in various floral patterns so I can dress up or down and according to the season. 
 
The general rule of giving talks is for the speaker to be dressed slightly better than the audience. But when giving messy demos, you gotta be sensible.

I agree with gems. My partner Jeff Ball was the gardening guru on the  
Today Show  for ten years and  chinos and a plaid shirt was the
"dress of the day". A gardener in a suit doesn't make it. When I  
present,  I wear a fancy jean jacket or shirt splashed with a bit of   
glitz. My favorite is a custom designed shirt  embellished with silk flower embroidery. Smashing yet  understated
