Photo reuse fees

If anyone is willing to share with me their experiences dealing with the 
issue of publications wanting to purchase perpetual rights for the use 
of a photo, I'd be grateful.  A magazine I am talking to doesn't want to 
pay reuse fees, and frankly I haven't a clue what price I should put on 
a photo can they can use over and over again in different publications.  
I'm still used to the one-time use or being paid a percentage of the 
original fee for reuse.
