Re: Reel mowers

My local True Value hardware does it. They also sharpen power mower blades
too.

We have a local "sharpener guy" in a van that you can book for your
neighborhood event as well. I fear he is the last of his breed.

You can sharpen the blades on your own but it's an art that's pretty much

lost...and somewhat dangerous as the blades get very, very sharp. If you
have a local golf course see if you can find out who runs the shop...they
may be able to do it for you as they probably use reel mowers on their
greens. In your area there are probably local small machine/mower
shops...maybe
even an Agway that does it. You might also give a call to your nearest
Cazenovia Equipment dealer as they may be able to do it also (
_www.cazenoviaequipment.com/_ (http://www.cazenoviaequipment.com/) ) If
they don't do
it by hand they need to use a lathe and most of those disappeared when
commercial reel mowers such as the Locke were replaced by high speed
rotary
mowers. Cazenovia is a Deere dealer and Deere still makes some reel
mowers
for golf courses so......
