Hi Phyllis,
What about some type of reflector? It could be a mirror, sheet metal, a
lighted sculpture, livestock watering trough planted as a water garden, etc.
I'm in the woods, here and you'd be surprised what you can get to bloom with
just three hours of not-very-strong sunlight.
Cordially,
Lois

Subject: [GWL] Exterior Grow Lights
Hello All, and Happy New Year!
Have any of you ever used grow lights in the landscape for sun-challenged
areas?
I have a design challenge to create a garden in a focal area of a
contemporary-style home that is a 12'x6' area surrounded on three sides by
large windows of the home and a deck on the fourth side. Its a spot that is
visible from all sides and viewed at a distance from some areas inside the
home, but close up at lower level windows.
In effect its a window-well area that will receive about two hours of midday
(East-West orientation)sun. I'm considering mosses, ferns and other deep
shade plants for sure, but wondered if I could enhance the growing
possibilities by adding exterior grow lights.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences.
Thanks,
Phyllis
