Jeff, all:
I'd like to say that I have no problem with any discussion as long as it
has reasonable relevance to garden writing. I'm tending to allow more
latitude these days because questions that stick very narrowly to garden
writing (contracts, dealing with editors, etc) just don't come up all the
time. Rather than have a dead list, it seems more reasonable to have some
"drift" as long as it doesn't wander off too far. The only kind of threads
I get annoyed at are the ones that devolve into personal exchanges on list
-"Are you going to ______?" answered with something like "Yes."
So just keep it relevant to the purpose of the list, and keep the
exchanges relevant to ALL of us. Anything else - offlist, please.
If nothing else, remember how dumb such exchanges look in the archives
