Re: Big Lawn, No Lawnmower

Title: Message
In my area of rural Pennsylvania, the minimum legal rural residential lot size is two acres. When the farmer sells his farm to the developer, the land is usually pasture or farm field. This relatively level area is turned into lawn as soon as the house is built. The only space not put to lawn is the driveway and the deck out back. If there is by any chance a bit of woodlot or hedgerow it is soon "cleaned" using glyphosate and/or goats.

There is no average lawn size.  In Chicago the lot size tend to be 30 by 125 subtract house, garage, sidewalks and a lawn about 2000 sq ft is about all you'll going to get.  About 40 miles out from Chicago, people have 5 acre lawn and mowing it with a Sears or Walmart 38" wide deck.  I think they should raise sheep.  We consult homeowners on how best to control lawn care.
