Re: digital cameras

There is a great deal of brand loyalty in digital camera purchases...especially when you get above the $500 range.  If you're familiar with the Nikons then that's what you'll probably recommend.  I'm familiar with the Sony's and I'm wild about my F707 since there is little need for additional lenses.  But there's no question that I'm biased since this is my third Sony in just over three years...and I still have all three.  I think the best way to be objective is to read some of the reviews in the dpreview.  Go to dpreview.com and just click on the review section.  You may want to do some research there as well on the type of camera you may need and the megapixel range that you will need.  Once you've done that you can go to the forum area at dpreview.  There you can speak with owners of the specific cameras, ask questions and get advice on digital! cameras in general and on each specific brand in that brands forum.
