Being a bit cranky today, I must add my two cents.  I do not find the
gardening chat particularly useful as it seldom jibes with my own
experiences and is almost useless to me personally.  While it may carry an
authoritative air and be better than local newspapers, it is not what this
list is about.  I joined to share and receive professional publishing
insight and trends, and would be happy to follow Lon to a new list if this
one wants to evolve in a different direction.

So, Lon, I would say keep reminding people of the intent, it will work over
time.  It must be difficult to cut off well meaning people when they stray
off topic, but this is not a gardeners' advice chat room.
