Re: Best New Variety

Hi Suzanne;
I am starting to wish that we sold plants but instead we act as Agents on behalf of Plant Breeders. For a look at our story please visit www.icangarden.com/neweden Please also visit our web-site at www.prideofplaceplants.com albeit under a little construction and modification at the moment. On the New Eden site,click on the botanical name of the cultivar beside the thumb nail photo,and a description of the cultivar will be presented along with a list of the current Growers and Sellers.Currently many New cultivars,not listed, are being Tested by Nurseries in the U.S. and we expect a public release in the Spring 2005.Watch our web-sites for a list of suppliers and the New cultivars that they handle.For the Hydrangea " Mikata Yae", please contact:

Readers, attendees name Hydrangea best new plant
Hydrangea macrophylla ssp. serrata 'Mikata Yae' from Pride of Place Plants was named best new variety at the NMPRO New Plant Pavilion, which took last week at the ANLA Convention and Executive Learning Retreat in Hawaii. Voting took place on site and on the Internet. 'Mikata Yae' produces 1-inch, blue, star-shaped, double florets from midspring to midsummer. It?s a compact, midsized shrub that should reach 4 feet high in 10 years. It's hardy in Zones 5-9. It grows best in moist, well-drained soil with pH from 4.5-6. It prefers afternoon shade. 23 plants were showcased at this year's event.
