Digital photography question

A quick question for the photographers on the list here. I'm using an
Olympus C-765 as a quick "point and shoot" type of camera. Since I'm
constantly visiting gardens the size, easy use and 10X zoom sold me on this
one.

When buying the camera I paid top dollar for the Olympus 256 MB memory card
because it would allow me to do panoramic shots. Now I'm in the market for a
back-up card and am overwhelmed with the choices!

The images I'm taking are being used as a cataloging system for my own
collection and for future power point presentations. Do I need to be
concerned with brand, or type of card such as "picture card", "smart media",
"secure digital" ?
