Oops, sorry, I misspelled it.  It's bedeguar, and Google can find it. 
It's a distinctive gall on wild roses, created by beneficial wasps 
(Diplolepis rosae).  It's commonly called "Robin's 
Pincushion."  Margaret Lauterbach
