Re: Endless Summer hydrangea
I must say my Endless Summer has done well from its first year (now 4 years old). It has bloomed profusely through severe winters. I was so pleased after its first year that I got more at one of the big box stores Gene referred to and peppered them all over my property to add dependable color from mid-June on. I moved all the old mopheads (ugly sticky-looking things they were until July 1!- most years with no flowers at all!!) to a far side of the property where those sticks were camouflaged by tree trunks and I wouldn't be reminded of the cold winter each time I looked at a shrub with no flowers! I couldn't be happier with Endless Summer in a Zone 5 garden where many Zone 5 rated plants don't do nearly as well.

My endless summer have survived a zone 5b winter. I don't give them any
special treatment for the winter, but I live in a somewhat protected area.
They have remained very small and one blooms while the other doesn't in a
similar situation with partial sun, sandy soil, good watering and minimal
fertilizer.
