re Clarification (TC)
hi TC. I saw your question about GWA finances on the writers list. I have had the same train of thoughts.
I was at the last symposium and I do not remember seeing any actual numbers anywhere at all. I think the budget and financial statement should be published to all members each year.
But then I was the one who made the stink about overselling and waitlisting spots at the symposium, then was publicly informed that the symposium fees we pay don't cover its costs (implying I really had no right to complain.)
So umm I think it may be a touchy subject. Especially when you look at how the organization is managed and how those assorted services are procured. It isn't public, as far as I know, so we must rely on the (volunteer) officers to approve it all.
In fairness I have never brought this up to an officer or other "authority" of GWA. I'm sure everyone is doing the best they can. Running GWA is probably akin to herding cats.
