As Doreen points out, cucumbers can be bitter. Not trying to be picky, but
terms such as crisp, crunchy, fresh, clean, etc. aren't flavors. Most
cucumbers are pretty much flavorless. Karan Davis Cutler

OK, so if the allowable "flavors" are salty, sweet, sour, bitter, and
umami, my homegrown cucumbers have a subtle sweetness, and the waxed
ones from the supermarket (it's been a long time since I've had one
of those) are a little sour.
But to my palate, knowing that a cucumber can be subtly sweet whereas
a tomato can have salty, sweet, sour, and umami flavors does not make
the tomato "better." Sometimes "crisp, crunchy, fresh, clean" trumps
a juicy flavor bomb.
