Re: cucumber flavor
Ahh, Karan
To say most cucumbers are pretty much flavorless.... sigh. Not to a
cuke addict. The sensations you describe as not being flavors may be
strictly true, but only part of a greater truth. All those sensation names
are a part of the overall experience of eating a cucumber. Add the fragrance
of a fresh cucumber and the un-describable final taste combination
sensation.. Well.
Easy to understand why Roman emperors developed greenhouse glass so they
could have cucumbers over a longer season.
Meanwhile we savor cucumbers with sour cream and Valdia onions, fresh
pickles, just spears of chilled cukes with sea salt.

[GWL] cucumber flavor
As Doreen points out, cucumbers can be bitter. Not trying to be picky, but
terms such as crisp, crunchy, fresh, clean, etc. aren't flavors. Most
cucumbers are pretty much flavorless. Karan Davis Cutler
