The Five Year Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina is Approaching

A Note From Dan Schlossberg on behalf of the New Orleans Convention and
Visitors Bureau:

Thank you for your support and coverage of New Orleans since 2005. As we
approach the fifth year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, we would like to
assist you with your reporting on stories regarding the rebuilding and
resurgence of New Orleans.

Under the leadership of Mayor Mitch Landrieu, the New Orleans Convention and
Visitors Bureau has formed a coalition of business, governmental, private
sector and economic development organizations to serve as a unified resource
for members of the media. From neighborhood redevelopment to tourism to
healthcare, this coalition is your one-stop-shop for expert sources,
spokespersons, story ideas, and data from all aspects of the city?s
recovery.
For those of you traveling to New Orleans, we will operate the official Five
Year Anniversary Media Center from August 21 ? 30, 2010 at the New Orleans
Marriott, 555 Canal Street, from 7 a.m.-5 p.m daily. The center will serve
as a base for all journalists, and will provide breaking news, city event
schedules, daily press briefings from elected officials and business leaders
on a variety of topics, satellite truck hook-ups and private interview
rooms. The Marriott is offering hotel accommodations for media at a
discounted rate. To reserve rooms at the New Orleans Marriott for $99 USD
per night, please call 1-888-236-2427 and ask for the Katrina Five-Year
Anniversary room block.

For those not traveling to New Orleans, we will host a website which will
serve as the official online resource for expert sources, spokespersons,
story ideas, and data from all aspects of the city?s recovery.
