My bad for using it on those blasted thistles, as I was desperate.  BTW, 
Chris' tip on the white vinegar worked!  I sprayed the thistles last evening 
and today they're are almost dead!!  Hooray!

About Round-Up.  I quit using it years ago when I discovered that the salts 
persisted in soil and were transferred by the roots of dying weeds.  I read 
a study in an obscure scientific journal, one of the 100's my husband reads, 
after he pointed it out to me.  Root transfer was terrifying to me and bad 
for the soil food web, so I immediately stopped using the stuff.  I've 
mulched thickly and pulled a ton of weeds since.
