Re: weed removal by flaming

My advice from experience: be extremely careful near trees---turns out
the inside of an old dwarf Alberta spruce is full of fine, dry tinder.
A few years ago, my son was using a torch to kill weeds along the edge
of the driveway. The tree hung over the concrete a few inches.
That was enough for heat from the torch to---well, torch---the tree.
Fortunately, only the tree, and not the house a few feet away, went up
in smoke.
Even with a hose at the ready, the tree was gone in seconds. Very
scary and cause for a 911 call.
