Re: Weed Removal with a Flamer

 Sabine:
We regularly use a flamer--small model--on weeds in the gravel driveway and in cracks between patio stones. Best used on hot days when the plants are already stressed. There is probably 50 percent growback, so a few passes a week apart are necessary. I prefer it to an herbicide, but in the Pacific Northwest, where summers are dry, I only flame on stones and rock--never in mulched areas that could catch on fire. (It's easier to pull weeds in the beds anyway.) The fiery tree is a true cautionary tale. My husband suggests that if you have a lot of weeds to knock down, go for the larger btu s of the rolling propane tank model.
