Re: slug beer preferences
I've had good success with drowning slugs in beer. I use a tuna can and sink it to soil level...sometimes I put little twigs to guide the slimy creatures to their last imbibe.
Wet/damp newspaper left on the ground at night also can collect quite a few slugs or snails. Grapefruit rinds also collect several as can a board placed on the soil.
