That is why I wanted Mitch to add his two cents...I believe it was the Sunset maps he
used also. In Michigan I've not heard anyone refer to Sunset maps. We primarily is
hardiness zones.
Nancy, how about you...do you use Sunset maps?

For us in California, the hardiness zone map has some limited usefulness but the heat
zone map does not.
We all rely on the Sunset maps which are far more finely divided and accurate than
the USDA maps, for reasons already listed (see Catriona's email).
