japanese beetles
Mother Nature is a mystery indeed. Last year we had numerous Japanese Beetles. However contrary to all my past experiences here and previously on Long Island where the beetles came, feasted for about a month, and then disappeared, last year in Maine they arrived in late June and were still munching whatever they could find that appealed well into September. This year, they arrived early (presumably because of the unseasonably warm weather) then disappeared before a month was up. It's all a mystery to me.
