Japanese beetles

I have seen *far *fewer Japanese beetles this year (zip code 45851 in
Northwest Ohio). I manually remove them and keep a running tally on my blog
every summer, just as a quirky fun thing. They have been steadily declining
every year, but this year they are nearly non-existent. They appeared a
couple of weeks early, as others have noted, and they have been hanging out
in their choice location, on my 'Morning Magic' climbing rose. I found a
couple on my 'Big Smile' daylily, but other than that, exclusively on the
rose, which is where they are every year.
