Re: Japanese beetles
My brother recently bought a home on 32 acres with a 10-acre vineyard. It's about an hour north of St. Louis in rural Jerseyville, IL. Sorry, I don't know the zip code. He closed on it around June 1st. Sometime that week the Japanese Beetles invaded the grapes. They were so thick that at first glance he thought they were grape clusters. (He doesn't know much about horticulture.) The property came with an enclosed, air filtered, tractor & sprayer so he applied Sevin. Afterward, the ground between the rows was several inches deep with dead beetles. He's still not sure if the plants were saved.
I'm about an hour south in metropolitan St. Louis, 62034, and we have had a few on the knock-out roses, but not nearly as many as in years past.
