Wayne Mezitt's recent post regarding the Weston Nursery article on the topic <http://www.westonnurseries.com/New_Site_Pages/Articles_INVASIVE.htm> defines it thusly:
"So, what really is an invasive plant? There is general agreement that there are certain characteristics that help qualify a plant to be ³invasive² in a particular area:
* It is non-indigenous to the region;
* It is widespread and has become naturalized in undisturbed areas;
* It produces and disperses high numbers of seeds or propagules; and
* It out-competes and displaces natural plants or fundamentally changes an ecosystem¹s functioning."
I'm certain that "invasive" means different things to different folks, all need fresh information on this important topic. For some of the latest developments, check the Missouri Botanical Garden site: <http://www.mobot.org/iss/>
