Chuck Wyatt, Heirloom Tomato Grower

I learned this morning that Chuck Wyatt, an enthusiastic supporter and
grower of over 400 heirloom tomato varieties, died on Monday.

Chuck was growing heirloom tomatoes long before they were popular, and gave
many hours of his time and thousands of seeds to gardeners all over the
world.

In recent years, ill health and deteriorating eyesight kept him from
participating in most on-line discussions, but for nearly a decade he
prodded and cajoled people into trying the wealth of tomato flavors he knew.
He will be missed.

According to the death notice in the Baltimore Sun, there will be a memorial
gathering at the CVACH/ROSEDALE FUNERAL HOME, 1211 Chesaco Ave. today,
Thursday, 3 to 4:30 P.M. Memorial Service 4:30. Interment private. In lieu
of flowers, memorials in his memory to the Diabetes
Association, P.O. Box 2680, N. Canton, OH 44720.
