Re: Chuck Wyatt, Heirloom Tomato Grower
Chuck Wyatt was a true giant amongst the heirloom movement. His
propagating, saving and cataloging of extraneous varieties went a long way
towards preserving genetic diversity. For instance, Chuck had more the 11
Mortgage Lifter tomato strains. That variety is interesting in itself
because of the controversy over who was the creator. Chuck preserved the
genetic strains so comparisons could be done later. It's these kinds of
contribution he made daily that are invaluable and will be sorely missed.
