Title: Re: [GWL] offseason sales
A couple of weeks ago I brought up the subject of low plant selection and
inventory this season in the big box stores. People from other parts of the
country had noticed the same thing.
This afternoon I was talking with a KMart store manager about it. He told
me that a lot of the live plants come from Canada (which I know is true, at
least in our area). He told me further that he had heard that since Canada
was hostile to our position in Gulf War II, customs was "working to rule", a
union term meaning meticulous adherence to the regulations, and that much
of the plant material from Canada was not being admitted.
I have no idea how accurate this local store manager's explanation might
be. Has anyone else heard this?
