There are other options. How much federal aid do local libraries acutally get? They can always opt out of any federal aid, issue closed. If a community feels strongly enough about filtering the community can give the library alternate financial support. And, as I understand the approach of the law...as an adult you can simply ask for the filter to be turned off while you use the computer. Aside from that I'm absolutely opposed to the filters but not everyone is and every community has differing standards and pressures.
