Last week I went up to the local university site to see what research I could achieve through their system. I found that it is quite amazing, so long as I am in the library. Access to all the databases, journals (obscure and older pre70's). and books throughout the Penn State system and beyond. If the article is not online, they send it to the library who will forward it to me. Books I can order from home through the system to pick up at the library (30mins away). Last week I picked up the 3-part Plan of St Gall ('79 ed.), Chrisp -- Medieval Gardens ('66 ed.), Coulton's Life in the Middle Ages and the Colloquim from Dumbarton Oaks on Medieval Gardens. I have them all for a month and they can all be renewed if needed.
So the question on images - who owns the copyright to images in these books? The author? publisher? photographer ? or, in the case of some images from museums - the institution?. One image is from a pyramid and was cited as Singer et al, 1951., and Chrisp passed away in the early 1920's (I think).
