Re: More Magazines Gone

Hello Doreen,
Based upon my personal experience I would say there is much more to the
story and is stated in the demise notice. There *are* plenty of gardeners
purchasing plants besides what is being sold prearranged in containers. I
had the best year in my 10 years in business. Every wholesaler I have spoken
to this season has been speaking with a big grin of contentment on their
face. One of the best years ever for sales. Plants, gardeners and gardening
... along with those who simply want a pre-packaged garden... are alive and
healthy.
The internet certainly has changed communication. The world of gardening
is certainly no exception... but that has brought opportunity along with the
need to adapt. Because of the internet I am more aware of the printed
material to purchase than ever... and quicker than ever. Quality gets passed
by word of mouth in a heart beat today...
No arguing with you or the notice, really... just saying I do not think
the closing the two titles is not all that simple, or correct.
Doug, I hear the plant people you work for had one hey of a spring
season in sales..... not all was directed at the container market?? The
world is not ending ... just changing.
