Re: Book Award

Saxon's book is excellent. Although, I didn't get a review copy, his publisher sent enough information that I was able to see immediately that the book was more than a regional one, given water shortages throughout the country. Drought is just the flip side of deluge, and it happens in cycles just as the rains do. Drought is how nature maintains averages.

I was happy to feature "Plants and Landscapes for Summer-Dry Climates...." in the Resources section of Easy-Care Landscaping, the SIP I produced and edited, which is on newsstands now. The emphasis throughout the entire issue is sustainable landscaping; make it native, make drought tolerant, make maintenance minimal. The book is a wonderful resource for any home gardener, and I highly recommend it.

Congratulations Saxon. Your photography is a huge part of the effectiveness of the book's message.
