Re: NO ATTACHMENTS TO THIS LIST

Yes, there ARE differences. Many e -mail programs don't give you an option - they just start downloading all the letters into your inbox. In my case, if there is a big, unwanted download in the batch, there is no way to skip past it. If I didn't have an ISP that offers webmail, which allowed me to find and remove the letter (but which takes time) I'd have had to wait 20 minutes or more while that one letter downloaded.
And that doesn't even cover problems such an attachment can cause with virus filters, among other things.

All of this is why we have a special site for photos, but it seems few people read the footers of EVERY letter, which TELL you where to send photos.

I'm confused.  Why do people download the file if its going to cause a problem.  As it was a picture of a rose that I didn't need, I just ignored the post along with the downloadable file.  Even when we had Windows 98 and phone hookup, the option to download or not was always given.  So long as the image is not embedded in the post itself it works well. Even if the image is part of the email you can shut the email down prior to getting far with the image without causing any problems.  As the computers we use are the basic Walmart specials, nothing fancy, I assumed that everyone else had these basic capabilities.  Am I wrong somewhere? Is it Macs that have the problem or do different programs/servers deal with these things in different ways?
