Several years ago Workman purchased Storey Communications, and I saw no 
ill side-effects.  I'm not on the inside, but my experience as a Storey 
author was that Workman allows the successful niche publishers to 
continue working fairly independently doing what they do well, but the 
small niche publisher now has accessess to the much larger Workman 
distribution system.  So its a win-win situation.  It's possible my 
editor at Storey was just being politic and stoic, but I didn't sense 
any unhappiness from the Storey staff due to the purchase.
