I have always thought of a listserv as a group of friends or people with a 
common interest sitting around talking. If it were a conversation in my 
living room, I would see no offense if at some later date one of the guests 
were to pass on that Campbell said such-and-such. I feel the same way about 
open listservs.

Private email, one on one, is a somewhat different matter. Even so, I don't 
get particularly bent out of shape if it is passed on.
