Re: speaking on a cruise
I haven't done this myself but I have crossed the Atlantic a few
times on Cunard liners when there were always important people on
board doing this and that. I heard former NY Mayor John Lindsey, the
movie critic Rex Reed, and the poet John Ciardi. The first two did
lectures in an auditorium. Ciardi spoke to a small group in a remote
corner of the ship. I remember a piano recital (tricky, if the ocean
is rough). It looked to me like a sweet deal. They performed once and
got a trip worth a couple thousand. No doubt they weren't in steerage
either.
