GWL Gathering in Portland

I made hotel reservations this afternoon and learned from the hotel website that they do not have a cocktail lounge.  We usually have our annual gathering in the hotel bar.  Two questions I'd like everyone's input on:

1.  Do you want a listserv gathering to put faces to names, as we usually do?  Last year, in Oklahoma City, the event was sparsely attended.  The gathering will be 5-6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, if we have it.

2.  Suggestions on a place to gather?  The hotel has a Tex-Mex restaurant and a casual cafe.  I'll find out if either has a bar area.  Any other ideas?
