Re: lawn mower window of opportunity
Two years ago, I bought an 19-inch, Black & Decker cordless that replaced a B&D electric mower. I sold the electric mower because the cord was just to cumbersome to work around the garden beds. I used it for a year. It replaced a gas mower.
I like the fact that I can push a switch and the mower starts. That's because the gas mower of years ago was such a struggle to start. It used to take me as long to start it as it did to cut my grass. But this year, it has stalled several times when mowing my lawn, which has been a bit on the taller side because of all the rain. I haven't had a chance to check to see if it needs a new battery or if it's just the grass length. It stalls even when set at the highest setting. My gut feeling is that this should not be happening because the grass isn't choke-the-mower tall, but I don't know why just yet.
Since you are northeast, you should look at Neutons, which I think are made in your region. A friend has had one for nearly 12 years and loves it. They are more costly than the B&D.

My husband, who is a sentimental guy ("my father's lawnmower!") is in the Galapagos on a research cruise and is unable, TG, to make a decision here. So I have a rare window of opportunity to trade in this gas-guzzling, non-mulching machine for a rechargeable, cordless, mulching mower.
