Re: Garden Writers Association vs. Garden Writers of America,

About changing the annual GWA directory to an online instead of paper
edition--I think that the good news is that it doesn't have to be either/or.
With print-on-demand services like Lulu, Blurb, Scribd, and good
old-fashioned PDFs, it seems like it would be possible to switch to an
online version and offer a print-on-demand paper version. Anyone could
purchase a nice bound copy, fully covering the printing costs with their
purchase price so that GWA enjoys the cost savings of going online. (or, in
the case of PDFs, people could have the directory bound at their local
Kinko's, which offers an online service making it easy to send them a
document and just pick it up when it's ready. I believe there are even ways
to generate PDFs from an online database on the spot, so that the PDF would
have the most up-to-date info from the database as of the moment it was
printed.)
