Re: Garden pests and control
At 8200 ft in the Front Range Rockies, it's pocket gophers. Can watch entire 3-ft-tall stalks of budding Asiatic lilies disappear down into the earth when a gopher gets a hankering for them. Lilium pumilum even more favored, doesn't get above 6" before it disappears belowground.
Would give anything to be watching lilies disappear and pleading with gophers right now.
Wildfire raging (High Park Fire, CO), been evacuated since Saturday, may or may not have a home, let alone gardens and pocket gophers and all the other zillions of critters.
Hug your deer and groundhogs for me :)

My orchard is the testing ground for any number of products up to and including slingshots. (btw, they work for the first year and then you have to step up to a bigger pellet and then they just jump and act pd-off.). :-). And we are the daffodil capital of the area because tulips seldom get higher than 2-inches before becoming part of the salad diet they prefer. :).
