 One wonders whether Burpee profited from the sale.

I don't believe that Burpee profited on any level from the years of this
relationship.  For any of the investigative journalists on the list serve,
the story might provide enough details and exposition to launch a
best-selling, high-profile business drama.  Capturing the opposing life
forces of George Ball and Dan Hinckley on paper would be cause for
celebration in the horticultural community.

On another note, if you're on the East Coast, Burpee/Heronswood is having
its open house this weekend.  I thought that I might go.  Just because.  Is
anyone else on the list going to be there?
