Re: black widows & wasps
Chickens certainly will eat any spiders they come across, including black
widows....but black widows are almost never out and around, but stay in
dark, quiet, hidden places most of the time. This is why they are vulnerable
to reptiles such as alligator lizards and skinks....critters that also spend
most of their time hidden, roaming those dark spots, and not out in the open
like say, a bluebelly fence lizard.
By the way, it is entirely possible to go out in the country and catch some
of these types of lizards and then bring them back and release them in your
own yard...and almost always they will hang around. Cats however will kill
them.
