Sally, I think the reason you don't have difficulty locating gardening articles in UK publications is that gardening is to the British what food is to the French. It's part of their very soul. In the U.S., where it's a popular hobby, a paper's audience -- and their spending -- determines the amount of space devoted to the subject. I am an editor at a weekly newspaper in Woodstock, New York and have consistently had to fight for more gardening articles despite a local community that includes numerous gardeners -- as witnessed by the plethora of nurseries and garden service providers -- and a well-attended annual charity garden tour event here. Our otherwise alternative and progressive company, Ulster Publishing, publishes five newspapers throughout the region and I have finally gotten them to turn the annual home section into one focused both on home and gardening and to include several interior sections on gardening in the paper itself. Once done, they were amazed at the amount of advertising that was available. Duh? By the way, interesting you should mention Lee Reich. He's a friend, lives in New Paltz at the southern end of our region and writes our regular gardening article, that is distributed in all of our papers. I told him about the list-serve and suggested he sign up. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear from him on this thread. And one final word...Thank you Lon and Doreen for your hard work. This group is wonderful. Andrea Barrist Stern ============================================================ Good, Better, BEST! What's better than a year's subscription to Ladies' Home Journal?
