Re: query about 'first garden' stories?

Hi Sharon:

I started seeds indoors on my windowsills the first time because the winter
blues really got to me that year. I was a trifle overeager in February when I
planted lots of the season's hot new climbers. Tender plants can't go into
the ground here until way into June, and knowing there was plenty of time, I
wasn't as observant as I should have been. On the first day of Spring I
noticed that not only were the vines growing much too fast and tall they were
all entwined around each other. Every evening I would patiently unwind them
all and gerry-rig taller and taller supports and every morning they would all
be hugging each other again. I spent the entire Spring coiling and uncoiling
and was pretty fed up with vertical gardening by the time the garden season
really began. Now I know that an early head start isn't always a smart head
start and spend both winter and spring with books instead.

This is fun! I'm sure you'll get great stories.
