RE: Ready for drugs

Nan,
Roundup will kill oxalis.  Don't use it until the plant is growing very
actively which I guess it is now from the sound of your wailing. Instead of
spraying the material, get a one inch paint brush or thereabouts and pour
some Roundup into an empty tin can.  Then paint the stuff on the plant.
This avoids harming any other plants in the vicinity. You need only cover
half the plant's surface for the material to work. Some Roundup has some
quick acting additives, but the real impact is its getting to the root
system and turning off the plant's ability to produce protein.  It dies in
10 to 14 days and should not come back.  If it does come back, then the
second painting will do the job.  Roundup will not spread in the soil, it is
absorbed by the plant and stays there till it biodegrades within the dead
plant.  Don't worry none of us will mention that Nan Sherman used
"chemicals", we'll keep that in the family.  Plant something where the weeds
were growing or some other weeds will fill in the space.

Okay, I've had it.  The oxalis in my yard is eating everthing up.  I
don't know which oxalis this is, actually there are two I think.
Both low growing, not the bulbous type.  deep tap root, tiny yellow
flowers, the ones in my front yard have purple/bronze tinge to the
leaves and the ones in back have grass green leaves.  Can anyone tell
me what (gulp) chemicals will kill oxalis without killing the rest of
my garden?
