While recently researching a column in California and Nevada I was struck by the need to have an ability to dictate my notes and thoughts while visiting horticultural sites instead of taking hours to manually write then try to read or transcribe the notes. The idea is to be able to transcribe these verbal notes into text at the end of each day and save the text for future reference and searches. Several years ago I tried two voice recognition packages as well as a handwriting tablet that would attempt to translate my written notes into text...but both were far from helpful.
Is anyone using voice or handwriting recognition software and hardware for their articles? What are your reactions and how is it working?
