News, PR and Gardening Trends

I seldom get any PR materials anymore. I did contact people after I moved but for some reason the materials just aren’t flowing in like they used to. The really sad part about this is that I have an entire gardening page to write and design weekly at one of the newspapers I work for. I need materials!

I haven’t heard much from members on this list about gardening trends this year. What do you all think?

I hear chocolate colored and chocolate scented plants will be hot this year. Also, I have heard quite a bit about burgundy foliage. I wonder if promoting burgundy colors is another way to continue to market black plants that possibly did not sell out last year...just a thought.

Also, I am doing research on vanilla scented plants. If anyone knows of any, please email me privately at SheriAnnRicherson@exoticgardening.com

In other news, here in my neck of the woods (Marion, IN) another large nursery went under. The auction will be in April which basically leaves us Lowe’s, Wal-Mart and a new Home Depot whenever it gets finished. I guess it is another sign that I really need to work harder on getting retail facilities here and quit selling strictly via the internet. Does anyone else see privately owned nurseries going under or is it simply here?

Let’s get this list talking!
