Title: Re: [GWL] Question from a lurker
Like Melanie said, "Hi All"
I wish you good luck Melanie.
Just so you folk know, especially those of you who
have become established garden writers, this thread has been invaluable to those
of us just breaking into the field. It can be very confusing to determine fees,
royalties, credits etc when you haven't done it before.
My opinion, after reading everyone's post to date,
would be to secure decent credits, the right to purchase quantities at a lower
rate for resale at your talks, a share of royalties but provide the actual
writing at a low rate ( I think $300.00 was mentioned.) I would turn this
into an exercise of establishing impeccable credentials which would translate
into more lucrative ventures in the future.
If these ideas are way out of line, I would welcome
any comments on or off list. It is an excellent way for us new folk to learn and
, generally, to keep us gardenwriters on the same page, so to speak, when
negotiating.
Thanks
Dan
