Re: Question from a lurker

Title: Re: [GWL] Question from a lurker
Wow, ok, now I took another look at my contract, this time with a fine tooth comb.

The contract is with the author, not with Timber Press.

The gentleman has always been a good friend of mine. We lecture at many of the same symposiums and he has flown me to Canada to lecture there (I'm going again in two weeks).

The posts I've read here have helped me notice several things in the contract I didn't see before. The chapter is  on a topic that I lecture about often, "Landscaping with Daylilies": Two parts, 1700 words on "Daylilies in the Garden" and 1700 words on "Companion Plants".   I'm forever begging my fellow daylily collectors to add some diversity to their gardens. In my own garden the 450 daylilies are far outnumbered by other plant material.

Most interesting in this reading was the part about photographs that I thought was 8. In the cover letter is a sentance that says "...putting the 10 pictures as the cover page to each of the chapters in the book. Of course they have to be original slides..."

Reading that they will be used in such an important manner, I would very much like to receive payment for them!

Now I have to get my wishy washy spine to stiffen a bit.....

bye,
Melanie
